Reflective Blog Entry

This semester I have changed and grown a lot more than I thought I would. I realized that i’m not as group oriented as I portrayed myself to be because this year some of my best products were created by myself. I also have gotten loads better with technology than i was before. Last year I was clueless with technology but now I know how to do everything I need to know about technology.

The thing that made me the most proud was the world is flat section of the first quarter. Not only because I rocked my presenting grade but I really enjoyed working side by side with DJ because we got along so well and we just worked perfectly together.

The most challenging thing this year was the last two weeks when we were doing The Red Badge Of Courage (TROBC), pvonline stuff (brochures and what not), and ,for me, deciding what to do with our groups as discussion leaders. All of the things we had to do was overwhelming but I pulled it of and that made me really proud and , although I hate to admit it, suprised.

My favorite thing I have done this year was a tie between recording songs with Tyler and Blaire and being a leader for TROBC. Recording was one of my favorite things because I got to relate music with school which I thought was pretty cool and I got a lot of praise from my classmates. Leading TROBC was one of my favorite things because I felt really machure making the decisions for class (your probably thinking this is funny).

I hope that next semester I will get to be a leader again because I really enjoyed that. I also want to have another big individual project because I want to prove that my skills with technology has grown emensely from the begining of the year when I got my reputation as producing very average quality projects.

  1. Oliver, I think that you have grown a lot too. It does not surprise me that you are better by yourself. I always thought you might be that kind of person...... maybe Bailey rubbed some introvertedness on you. :D I love that you were so honest when you were writing this, and I agree with most of it. I am proud of you also for being unexpected and bringing public speaking and singing into you school life. From, Emma <3

  2. Oliver, I only became friends with you about a month ago, so i barely know you before you got better in DLC. I always wondered how you never got stressed from DLC, at least you didn't show it.

  3. Knowing you at the beginning of the year, I thought that you were going to be the king of person that just liked to have fun, and not do their work, or a slacker. From there to now, you have become someone who does their work, but you still can have fun. I also rocked my TWIF presenting grade, even though I was the only one who did any of the work. That was one of the most fun for me. I COMPLETELY agree that the pvOnline stuff was hard, but I thought the hardest was the Industrial Revolution stuff. Next semester I would like to be a leader also, but the difference is that I haven't been a leader yet, unlike you who was for TROBC.

  4. I agree that you feel you aren't as group oriented as you thought you were. I also think that everyone how is in DLC7 got TONS better with technology too! Ms. Bailin bragged about your TWIF presentation, and how you rocked it! That is a great moment to be proud of! TRBOC did seem to be a challenge because there were a lot of things going on, like you said. I do feel that you didn't just learn about the Civil War in TRBOC, but also leadership responsibilities in group work. I think that music is a great talent of yours, and I understand why you enjoyed that so much in the Stephen Crane project. I also think DON'T think that leading TRBOC is something funny, like I said before, you acquired leadership responsibilities from that. I appreciate the recognition you gave of your reputation for producing okay products. I do believe that you will grow immensely as a leader throughout the year. DLC7 has high expectations, so don't disappoint! :)

  6. I can relate to most of the things you had said. In the beginning of the year I didn't know much about technology either. I think it's really great that you could work on a project with someone you got along with. One thing I didn't really get was how was being a leader funny? Wouldn't it be serious because you had to choose what to do for the day to help the members of your group, although I can't be sure because I've never been a leader, so I don't know if it would be stressful or not, or serious or not. It's also a good thing that you didn't stress out during the last two weeks of the semester or you did, but I just don't know about it because I'm not a stalker. Anyway, I hope you can do just as well next year as you have this year.

  7. I really agree with you on alot of the stuff you said. The World is flat was a very fun presentation piece, and i think I would be interested in seeing you present more. I can also relate to you about the red badge of courage and the brochures. I thought that you guys did a pretty good job as leaders in the RBOC, and i enjoyed some of the activities you had planned. I feel the same way about group decisions, and it almost always makes me second guess what I'm doing. It's interesting to me that your favorite was recording the music, even though thats kinda your thing. What goals do you have yourself this semester?
